Just saw the latest Tom cruise movie Edge Of Tomorrow where he repeats the same battle over and over again and each time he’s shot, he wakes up once again to the eve of the battle. Time keeps getting reset and he keeps learning, benefitting and growing stronger and wiser from his mistakes.
I think the concept of resetting time is really interesting. There is so much we would undo or perhaps redo better if we just had the opportunity to do so. The nicest part of our existence is our being human, but the most undesirable parts of our lives stem from our complexities of being human.
Knowledge is what we use to create experiences; wisdom is what we gather as a result of those experiences. Unlike the movie, we don’t have chance to redo the past, but with every new day, we have the opportunity to never repeat our mistakes and to start afresh. Once is a mistake, twice is not, be it infidelity, lying, abuse etc. If your daily diet of indifference, neglect and negativity has created rigor mortis in your relationships, it’s time to wake up and say, ‘new day = new beginnings = new possibilities = new realities’.
Unlike the film, where you have to go back into the past to correct the future, we wake up every day with the ability to change our past and hence, our future. It’s time to stop living the same cycle that doesn’t serve you in any manner. You have knowledge of it, but do you have the wisdom and enterprise to change it?
